Our Story
We're on a mission to get more primary school classrooms active.
We do this by providing short, easy-to-implement movement breaks that not only help to increase levels of physical activity and develop movement ability, but boost concentration, enhance confidence and increase enjoyment of physical activity too.
It all started in 2018 when our founder, Alice, started her PhD which aimed to explore physical activity in the classroom. We investigated things like movement skill competency, strength, enjoyment of physical activity and self perceived ability with over 1000 children in Gloucestershire. Then, we worked with over 50 teaching staff to understand the barriers to delivering physical activity in primary schools. Using behavioural and exercise science we co-produced a solution together... and busy brain breaks was born!
Since then we've worked with over 2000 children, published academic journal articles and secured funding from Innovate UK, the UK's national innovation agency. Now we're committed to reaching as many primary-school classrooms as we can, keeping our online platform at an affordable price so that as many children as possible can benefit from increased levels of physical activity and improved movement ability.
